The Preetz Paper Theater Festival  

is the largest international gathering of paper theater performers. First held in 1988, it still happens each year in September. It is organized by a school for adult evening classes which provides space for the performances.
The event is publicly supported by the district of Schleswig-Holstein, the region Plön, and the town of Preetz and by sponsors.

The SHOWS were highly varied in genre and style of performance.
To be seen were fairy tales, ballads, dramas, operas, operettas, and experimental theater.
There were live performances and recorded sound, self-drawn and ready-made wings, original and traditional techniques, and artificial and natural materials.

Underlying purposes of the event are: to revive paper theater performance and to gather a wider audience; to awaken the passion to perfect individual styles by meeting  paper theater performers from all over Europe, sharing ideas and experiences.
The event was alive with variety and with the special atmosphere that comes from close contact between performers and visitors.
